Mist of Belonging

Lifting the Sky

Lifting the Sky’s Mist of Belonging Offers a Musical Sanctuary for an Uncertain World

Grammy-Nominated Peter Gordon, Emmy Award-Winning Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), and Holistic Healer Rebecca Carroll Create a Journey for Calm, Connection, and Hope
In a world saturated with information—often contradictory, overwhelming, and rarely neutral—our sense of stability is constantly challenged. Amid the noise, opportunities for genuine peace of mind have become increasingly rare.

Mist of Belonging emerges as a timely and restorative response.

As a follow up to the world charting first album Dawn to Dreams, the new album was also composed and produced by Peter Gordon along with the visionary talents of composer and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) and holistic healing practitioner Rebecca Carroll. Mist of Belonging embodies their collective spirit of compassion, understanding, and healing. Together, these artists have created a deeply immersive recording that offers listeners pathways toward hope, reflection, and well-being.

The album serves as an audio off-ramp from the high-stress, high-anxiety lives many of us lead. Rather than amplifying the noise around us, Mist of Belonging invites listeners to step outside the echo chamber and enter a space of calm, presence, and connection.

I wanted to see if an expanded compositional language can provide a respite from the burdens of modern life. I am so fortunate to be joined by the deep well of compassionate expression from Daniel Bernard Roumain’s violin and Rebecca Carroll’s multidiscipline holistic approach to crystal singing bowls. Together, we speak to the part of us that is often protected and hidden away: the part of us that longs for wholeness by giving ourselves permission to accept that life is OK, and that it is OK to celebrate life despite its imperfections. Those moments may be rare, but this album offers a pathway toward them. - Peter Gordon

Throughout the recording, Gordon’s flute seems to breathe alongside the listener, gently guiding a meditative journey inward. His melodic sensibility creates an atmosphere of openness and contemplation, encouraging a renewed sense of balance and perspective.

DBR’s electric and acoustic violin masterfully weave through the music, adding expressive gestures that transcend language and culture. His distinctive voice brings emotional depth and humanity to the recording.

Peter invited me into his sound world with a generosity of spirit and trust that made this collaboration feel like a true imaginative partnership. Mist of Belonging gave me a space to listen deeply, respond honestly, and allowed the violin an opportunity to become a small part of a larger act of sonic care. I am grateful to Peter for creating a musical environment where presence, vulnerability, and beauty could meet. I also want to honor Rebecca Carroll, whose foundational work in healing, resonance, and intention helped shape the spirit of this project from the inside out. Together, we found a shared language of sound that I hope offers listeners a sense of calm, connection, and belonging - Daniel Bernard Roumain

Complementing the instrumental dialogue, crystal bowl practitioner Rebecca Carroll provides a sustained sense of warmth and cohesion. Her contributions infuse the music with grounding resonance and healing intention, creating an environment that feels both intimate and expansive.

As we move along this Journey called life, we all meet with pain, sorrow, hope, joy and so much more.  Mist of Belonging follows this same path, bringing to life and light those varied emotions and experiences of this life; continuously buoying up the listener on a cloud of hope through challenges and joys all along the way, and bringing us to rest in quiet and grounded peace.
I'll see you there - Rebecca Carroll.

Native American flute and tongue drums further anchor the listener which serves to center us as grounding force.
With gentle guidance, Mist of Belonging cradles us, inviting each listener into a quiet shared space—a mist of belonging.
